![]() ![]() #One way tinted window film windowsThat means that anyone standing outside your house and looking in at your windows will only see their reflection. ![]() That will be the case in normal daylight, even if it’s a cloudy day. ![]() Well, during the daytime, light levels outside will be much higher than inside. So how does all of this translate to the windows in your home? And you don’t have spotlights in the street outside. That’s all very well, but we’re guessing you don’t have a police interview suite in your front room. So how does this work in your windows? image It’s like being sat in a dark theatre, watching an actor under a spotlight on the stage. And the bright light in the interview room means they can see everything that’s going on. So there’s no reflection to distract the detectives. In the darker room, there’s hardly any light to reflect back. Because of that, the suspect sees only his reflection. In the brighter room, there’s lots of light to bounce against those reflective particles. And that’s what determines who can see whom. That’s right – the suspect is in bright light and the detectives are in the dark. Behind the one-way mirror, detectives sit in darkness, sipping their coffee and waiting for him to slip up. Do you remember anything else about the two different rooms? In one, the suspect is sitting at a table, bright light giving him nowhere to hide. The reason has nothing to do with the glass, and everything to do with the environment in which it’s used. So why doesn’t that happen? Let’s talk about light “Ok,” you might say, “but why does that mean it’s a mirror one way, and a window the other?” You might expect that you’d instead see a mixture of reflection and the scene on the other side of the glass. But it would only cover half the surface of the glass.Īll this means that when light hits the glass, half of it will pass through, and half will be reflected back. If you were to look at it under a very strong microscope, you’d see a nice, even layer. The layer is so thin that there are only half the number of particles you’d get with an ordinary mirror. That means it’s coated with a very thin layer of reflective particles. The film is what is called “half-silvered”. With window film, it’s the film that forms this surface. So how does that work?Ī thin surface is applied to the glass. Instead, the glass is actually half-mirror and half-window. So how can a piece of glass be transparent on one side and a mirror on the other? Half and half From the outside, anyone looking in will simply see themselves and their surroundings reflected back at them. It’s exactly the same principle with one-way window film. But from the room next-door, the detectives can see straight through the glass to view everything that’s going on. Have you ever seen a cop show with a suspect being interviewed while detectives look on from the next room? If you have, you’ll have seen a one-way mirror in operation.įrom inside the interview room, the suspect can only see a large mirror. Ready? Let’s get started! They do it with mirrors #One way tinted window film how toBecause once you understand how it works, you’ll also know how to get the best from it. How does it work? Well, keep reading! We’re going to take a look at the science behind the idea. There’s one solution that deals with all of these issues: one-way window film. Shutters or blinds will stop people looking in – but you won’t be able to see out either. But even if you do, they won’t stop prying eyes just outside your window. Tall hedges or fences at the boundary of your property are fine if you’ve got a big garden. If you’re looking for an option to increase the privacy of your home, there are plenty of things you might consider. ![]()

The Hex Room: Do you have what it takes to survive a horror film? The Fun House: Can you look past the magicians illusions and magic? Or will you become a clueless clown? With custom built sets, prizes, and completely unique experiences- this is a game you don't want to miss! We have 2 games to choose from. Lots and lots of fun, I really loved this game. This is not your average escape room. I screamed with delight and joy so many times as magical things happened around us. We also thought the ending was ever so slightly anti-climactic (it took us a minute to realise we'd actually escaped) but honestly, these things were pretty minor in what was otherwise an absolutely incredible experience. Lots of things we have never seen or done before in an escape room which is always a plus! I really cannot over-state how impressive the rooms here look, the craftspersonship is just unbelievable.Ī few small issues we had with the room: we thought they could do with an override switch for one of the puzzles as we had solved it correctly a few times before it worked. This is one of two rooms we played at Extremescape and again, they have absolutely knocked it out of the park with the incredible room design, super cool puzzles and some absolutely epic moments along the way. They were also very accomodating for me, as I've had to reschedule my game due to a bout of cancer I was dealing with, so I really appreciate their patience and support with that. I felt like we could have talked for hours over our love for Escape Rooms. #GOLDEN PUZZLE ESCAPE SAVRAMENTO PLUS#As ever, a big plus for me, everything in the room worked! I've become accustomed to having to rely on the GM's to bail us out when we hit a wall due to faulty equipment, but that didn't happen here. ![]() It's always nice for games to not be driven by padlocks and the use of tech in the room amused me. The ending was also slightly underwhelming. This wasn't the best escape game I've ever played, as I felt the game was too centralised to one area of the room but I will definitely be back to play their other games. ![]() I do worry though that had we not picked the hardest possible difficulty level, then we would have escape pretty rapidly, as we had almost 14 minutes to spare. The games are a lot more impressive, immersive and technically advanced now.Ī major plus point for this room is the ability to set the Difficulty level! You just let them know at the time of booking how hard you want it. I first played one of their games years ago, when they were just starting up. Exciting Game have definitely upped their game since my last visit! You wouldn't recognise it as the same company. ![]() ![]() We Created Open-Ended PuzzlesĪlthough we made a lot of questionable development decisions, the game’s open-ended puzzles are unquestionably the biggest thing we did right without them, SpaceChem would not be SpaceChem! ![]() Believe it or not, it’s actually harder! What Went Right 1. The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, the predecessor to SpaceChem. I started developing the game in my spare time with a coworker from my day job, eventually growing the team to seven people before shipping SpaceChem. The idea evolved over the next six months, picking up a cosmic horror story with boss battles in the process. Thinking back to the idea for a chemistry-inspired Codex sequel, it occurred to me to combine the low-level manipulations of the Codex with a high-level pipeline construction mechanic. Despite this, making immediate sequels is not in my nature, so I set the idea aside and moved on.Ībout a year later I visited Gas Works Park in Seattle and was inspired by its derelict chemical processing pipeline. ![]() Since Codex was already a simplified model of molecular bonding, expanding into chemistry proper would provide more mechanics (such as multiple bonds between atoms) and puzzles (different compounds, from simple ones like water to more complicated ones like benzene). ![]() Shortly after releasing The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, a Flash game about building machines that create and transform alchemical compounds, I started thinking about a chemistry-themed sequel. ![]() ![]()
Tex makes several snarky comments and funny puns to lighten the mood. You get to meet half of the game’s characters (mostly mutants), who have pretty decent makeup and distinctive personalities. The title screens are impressive, and the sound borders on provocative. The game begins with flare, as the introduction and several early cut scenes provide enough atmosphere for gamers to coast all the way to the end. Again, this is all very simple and a welcome relief. Switching to interactive mode (simply by using the space bar) allows you to pick up objects, manipulate them, and speak with characters. In first-person perspective, you move Tex through pre-rendered scenes using the mouse and keyboard and can adjust your height and point of view surprisingly, this turns out to be fairly smooth. He’s no Bogart (either in the acting or the looks department), but he’s got the style and the dialogue down. His first job this week is investigating a simple burglary, which naturally snowballs into something more sinister.Ĭhris Jones moves in front of the blue screen to play the title character, and does an adequate, if not impressive, job emulating the film noir genre. He continues to live amongst the mutants, who remain segregated from those humans who were immune to the radiation following World War III, and is desperate for work. ![]() Tex’s wife Sylvia (whom he solved a case for in Mean Streets and subsequently married) has left him, leaving Tex virtually penniless in his bare apartment in Old San Francisco. Sadly, however, the innovations weren’t enough to elevate the game quality above the previous offerings. Being released on four CD’s, Under A Killing Moon was the largest computer game in history at the time, while also sidestepping pitfalls seen in future FMV games (e.g. TEX MURPHY UNDER A KILLING MOON CAST SOFTWAREThe series has championed, or at least further developed, new software to enhance the gaming experience, and things are no different in this incarnation. If Shapiro’s July 19 decision should not be reversed before Feb. At least one election would need to be held in between to give voters a chance to put sympathetic legislators into office. Shapiro ruled that the legislature cannot both pass a law to pre-empt a ballot initiative and then amend it in the same session of the legislature, since that thwarts the intention of the people. They postponed a $12.05 an hour mandated wage for nontipped workers until 2030 and raised the minimum due tipped employees to $9.60 an hour. Lawmakers did so, then amended the law to defang it. Under Michigan law, the legislature can pre-empt an expected ballot initiative by passing a law that delivers the same provisions. The ballot measure would have entitled all workers, tipped or not, to a $12 an hour wage from their employers. In that decision, the judge killed the tip credit by finding that state legislators had exceed their authority in the way they thwarted a ballot initiative favored by organized labor. But Shapiro refused to grant a permanent stay of the changes, writing that he doubted higher courts would reverse his ruling of July 19. ![]() |
